FAQs

Our platform supports data classification up to Restricted and Sensitive (Normal).

For Optical Basic:
All compliance — including infrastructure, CMS, and VAPT — is fully managed by Optical. Agencies can focus entirely on content management without needing to worry about security assessments.

For Optical Flex:
Optical continues to manage and secure the infrastructure and CMS. However, the custom frontend server container is the agency’s responsibility, including its VAPT.

You may consider GovTech Bulk Tender for the VAPT: GVT(T)20006 - CyberSecurity and Audit Services

Optical Basic comes with a set of commonly used, pre-configured content blocks to help agencies get started quickly. If you need a custom content block, you have two options:

  1. Request it: You can submit a feature request here, and we’ll assess whether it can be added to the shared Optical Basic offering based on common demand and feasibility.

  2. Use the Optical Flex model: If your use case is highly specific or time-sensitive, we recommend switching to Optical Flex, which gives you full control to define your own content models and build custom frontend components. This allows you to implement any content block you need without waiting for platform-level changes.

The migration cost varies depending on several factors:

  1. The number of webpages to be developed

  2. The number and complexity of custom modules, widgets and controllers

  3. The amount of customisation required

At the moment, there is no consideration to issue another bulk tender for Optical.

Agencies will enter into a Universal Service Terms (UST) agreement with GovTech for the use of Optical.

If you require external support for development or maintenance, you may engage a web vendor separately through existing government bulk tenders such as:

  • GVT(T)22001 - Application Development and Maintenance Services
  • GVT(T)23009 - Agile Co-Development and ICT Professional Services

Alternatively, agencies may use their own procurement channels, such as Invitation-To-Tender (ITT) or Direct Contracting, based on internal guidelines.

No, the trial is provided free of charge. Agencies can explore and evaluate Optical with no financial commitment.
