FAQs

FileSG is supports API (via APEX Intranet/Internet) for system integration.
More information with regards to the APIs can be found at https://docs.developer.tech.gov.sg/docs/filesg-api-documentation/

For agencies that requires manual issuance via a staff, this is also supported by submitting the issuance request at https://agency.file.gov.sg/. Do note however, that your agency must be onboarded to FileSG first, and your email whitelisted.

FileSG supports 3 file formats, namely zip, pdf and oa (aka TrustDocs).
For other documents such as office documents, media files and others, you can zip them up and issue them as zip files.

FileSG supports up to 1.5GB per issuance (API & Manual), although the recommended file size is 1.0GB.

Generally, the files can be hosted for as long as the business need exist. However, we do recommend agencies to be prudent and set the deletion date for the files accordingly, as storage cost is still borne by the Singapore Government at large regardless.

Yes, FileSG supports integration with agency systems in both the Intranet and Internet zones. FileSG's APIs are accessible via both APEX Intranet & APEX Internet.

FileSG requires government agencies to provide the document recipient's Unique Identification Number, such as NRIC, FIN, or Passport Number, for each document issuance. This ensures that documents are accurately delivered to the intended recipients.

FileSG will sent out notifications to the recipient (supported channels are email and/or sms) whenever a file(s) is available for them. FileSG will work together with the agency to craft the notification templates (dynamic variables are supported) to be used.

Access to recipients' documents on FileSG requires Singpass authentication or Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). To ensure security, individuals should only share their documents with trusted entities, such as government agencies, for verification purposes.

FileSG is unable to accept password protected documents.
What we do have however, is the ability to password protect the PDF and ZIP files prior to making them available to the recipient.
The password is randomly generated and send to the recipient in the notification email.

In the event that you have either gotten the recipient's email address wrong or the file itself is erroneous, FileSG has a feature for you to recall the issued documents. What this means is that the file will be removed from the recipient's account on FileSG and will no longer be available for the recipient to download.

FileSG supports templating of documents, after which agencies will only need to pass over the data for populating into the template.
